We were also blessed with Pastor Brian Johnson of Zion Baptist and he couldn’t have done a better job of sharing with our 49 campers how much God loved them and wanted to have a personal relationship with them. He first talked about how God’s love is the greatest force in the world and how indestructible it is. Over the next couple of nights he walked us through Genesis and how God created the world and all of its beauty just for us and then how he created humans, in his likeness, to have a relationship with him. Then after laying that groundwork, he talked about Sin and how it came into existence but how God has provided a way out from under it through Jesus Christ. And then he again showed how God even through the flood, tried to help us find our way back to him; but even that was not sufficient so He sent his son, Jesus, to pay the ultimate price showing how deep and how wide and how awesome His love for us is. He made it very clear that each of us has a choice about where to spend eternity and how critical that decision is. His words did not go out null and void as 15, yes fifteen! campers out of our 49 made a decision this week to go home with Jesus as their best friend for now and eternity. Praise the Lord !!!!
The staff continues to show their desire to serve and minister to these kids starting early in the morning and often well into the evening. Continue to pray for them as for some, this next week will be their 8th straight week working from dawn to dusk sharing the love of Christ with our campers. Erin Burke blessed them on staff nights with a special salsa and chips treat. Thank you Erin for thinking of them and thank you to all those praying for these wonderful, beautiful creations of God who have given their summers to serve.
Again, it was an awesome week, due to the weather everyone got to be in the kayaks, everyone got a chance to go up the rock wall, everyone got to archery, low challenge, etc. We had lots of fun with our nine square game and had a counsellor dress up night. We had a great Mission Impossible game in the dark on Thursday night, we had an amazing number of Mission Soakers on Friday morning, with different staff getting a majority of the soakers, and we had amazing, delicious and fun meals all week long. It truly was a great, great week.
Thanks for all your prayers and please pray for us that we would finish strong, next week - our last week of this summer, for His glory.
And thanks to all who prayed for my health and return to camp! They were answered as I have been here all week, though not at full steam but almost there again and looking forward to next week, where I am not just the director but also the camp pastor.
