Sponsorship
We believe that finances should not prevent any child from being able to attend summer camp. Because of this, we do our best to price our camps well below the actual cost with the difference coming from many individual supporters, government grants, and our local churches. In fact, the registration fees that we receive only cover about 50% of the cost of running a week of camp.
Nevertheless, for some families the registration fees are simply out of reach. For that reason, caring members of our local community contribute to a special fund called our “Camp Sponsorship Fund.” We ask that with your application you send in $50, around 15% of the cost of the week to help cover a portion of food for the week. Then through the Camp Pagweak Sponsorship Fund we will be happy to authorize sponsorship for the balance of the week as long as our fund is in a positive position, so apply early. We feel that $50 is reasonable as it would most likely cause you more than that to feed your child for a week and were not at camp.
If you desire for a relative or someone you know to experience a week of fun and adventure and growth at Camp Pagweak but you do not have the means, please consider our Camper Sponsorship program.
Who is Eligible?
Everyone who feels that the cost of camp would keep them from sending their child to a camp experience is open to apply. Our sponsorship program can waive as much as you need to make it affordable, up to over eighty percent of the cost of the camp if the situation warrants it. (See “The Fine Print” below.)
How do I apply?
We ask that anyone who intends to apply for sponsorship to first approach a local church and ask if they would be willing to sponsor your child to go to camp. If they are unable to assist at this time, please continue with a sponsorship application.
There is a sponsorship form available during the online registration process. If you are submitting a paper registration, please contact the camp office at camppagweakoffice@gmail.com
If possible send in your portion as the $50 deposit with the online registration or mail it to us as soon as possible at the camp, Camp Pagweak, 9395 Hwy 6, Pugwash, NS B0K 1L0
The Fine Print
Camp Pagweak reserves the right to approve or deny sponsorship requests at their discretion. Camp Pagweak reserves the right to attach conditions to, modify, or discontinue this program as necessary. Sponsorships cover up to approx. 80% of the cost of the registration fee which includes Tuck for the week and a free camp T-shirt). Any extra purchases of camp clothing are NOT included. No other discounts (e.g. sibling, multi-week) can be combined with a sponsorship.
